Senior Java Software Engineer - Vice President

Leading global financial institution that is on the forefront of innovation in the financial markets. Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their dynamic team in London, focused on developing a next-generation cross-asset calculation system that supports trading desks and enterprise users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of high-quality software solutions, emphasizing simplicity, maintainability, and testability.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities for testing, monitoring, and deployment processes.
  • Participate in code and design reviews to ensure adherence to architectural standards.
  • Conduct thorough testing, including test automation and performance/load testing.
  • Provide support and assistance to clients, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
  • Contribute to best practices in architecture and development standards.

Required Skills:

  • Expert-level proficiency in Java with extensive experience in the Spring and Spring Boot frameworks.
  • Strong background in asynchronous programming and multi-threaded application development.
  • Deep understanding of event-driven microservices, particularly using Kafka (Kafka Connect and Kafka Streams).
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and developer tools (e.g., GitHub, JIRA, Jenkins).
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using observability tools (e.g., Splunk, Grafana).
